Ice Fishing
Before going to Colorado the most ice I had seen on a lake or anywhere else was a very thin layer of ice not quite covering the small pond I fish near home. So walking out onto the lake with a thick layer of ice was very very weird. I got used to it, but the first time I saw the ice on the lake with no snow covering the top of it, I got a little bit creeped out.
We had a great time fishing with Dave Bryant and Bill Miller from Lake Ice USA. It was a really neat experience pulling fish through a 10-inch hole in the ice. I have caught a 60-pound catfish and it was nothing like pulling that 5-pound fish through the ice. I think it might have taken more paying attention to get it through the hole than any other fish I have landed! Keeping the line in the center of the hole when a fish is pulling is harder than it sounds.
It was very interesting to say the least!
