Yesterday, dad and I were fishing on a private pond in Tennessee with our friend Doug Markham. It was cloudy, and we hadn't been catching anything, so we started trying to fish a stump field with faster-moving baits than we had been fishing. So dad started fishing with an XCalibur Square Lip crankbait through the stumps and started catching some fish. I tried it too, but I wasn't catching any fish or feeling any stumps or cover like dad was. We were fishing same crankbait in the same places at the same time. And we finally figured out that his line was 10-pound-test and my line was 17-pound-test. And with his line being a lot lighter than mine, his crankbait was swimming deeper than mine, which put it more into the stumps and it bounced of more cover, which was attracting more fish.
