When I heard that we going to fly fishing on the Clinch River with a guide in a boat I was a little bit intimidated, thinking I wouldn't be able to do it. Because when I think of fly fishing, I think of the picture from "A River Runs Through It" with the guy standing on the rock with his line like a hundred feet in the air IN THE DARK!
So when our guide told me that there was nothing to it, I was thinking, ""Yeah, right. I can't cast a hundred feet in the air!" But then when our guide started showing me how it worked and that it is not some sort of science, I started getting used to the thought of doing it. As the day went on I started getting used to casting, and reeling in fish with the fly rod. By the end of the day I was really enjoying it and was pretty comfortable with the fly rod.
I look forward to the next time I get to fish with fly rod a little bit.
