Learning Lakes

Lake Russell

One of my favorite parts about fishing lakes and ponds around home is the process of getting to know the lakes. It is so cool when you are fishing, especially in a small lake and you start to find different spots that work for you. And what is even cooler is figuring out why those spots work for you and finding more spots with some of the same characteristics.

The Bass Like a Jerkbait
Lately I have been fishing/learning Lake Russell which is a small lake located about 10 minutes from where I live. I have visited there 3 times so far. During each visit I have learned a little bit more about the lake. On my last visit I  found a few spots that I really look forward to trying on future visits (one in particular). Along with that learned that the bass in there really like a jerkbait. I guess the only bad thing about it is that I have all these ideas in my head about how to fish the lake and the only way to release them is to go back and fish the lake!

P.S. I also learned that there is a big beaver that lives in the lake.
