Slight Adjustment
One of the most frustrating parts of fishing can be getting lots of bites but not hooking many fish. That is exactly what was happening to me on Monday morning as I fished my XCalibur Square Lip. I was getting hits pretty consistently, but the bass where just not getting hooked well enough to land many of them. Meanwhile dad was catching bass almost every time he cast his XCalibur Rattle Bait.
I started thinking about the fact that dad's hits on the rattle bait where probably mostly reaction strikes from the bass hearing the rattles, which explained why they where hitting it more decisively and getting hooked better. So after that I decided to fish my crankbait a little bit faster so that maybe I would get some of those reaction strikes. Sure enough as soon as I started fishing it faster I started getting bigger hits and was hooking more fishing.
It definitely demonstrated how just a small adjustment can make a huge difference. It is also an awesome feeling when you figure out that little something that triggers the fish!
