If you happen to read my dulcimer blog, this subject matter will sound familiar because I just did a blog that was called the Dulcimer Rundown. But anyway, this is a blog that I need to write because I have not been a very up-to-date blogger. I'll try to cover it all in one blog.
1. Right after the SEOPA conference my dad and I went to a writers' event put on by Strike King. At the event they have many of their Pro-Staffers there, so all of the writers and editors can go out with the pros and get story material and photos. So that event was a lot of fun, and dad got an enormous amount of material. I got to spend time in a bunch of top pros' boats, and I even managed to catch a few fish between photo shoots.
2. On Tuesday I went out to the pond and fished by myself. Before I got in the canoe I decided to walk around the bank and fish a little bit because it was very windy, which makes it hard to control the canoe and fish. With the pond being low you can fish around most of it from the shore. There is this tree that fell in the pond a while back that just lays in the water. and when the water is up, almost all of it is underwater. With the pond so low now, about 15 feet of it hangs over the water. So while I was fishing around the pond I decided to sit on it like a horse and fish a while. So I jumped up and got on the part of it that is over land, and cast out to the end of the tree.............I got a bite and hooked the fish. I started reeling, trying to keep him out of the branches of the tree. Well, I got him out of the branches successfully, but then he decided to go under the tree, and my line got caught under the bark and would not come out. The fish was still hooked. There was only one thing to do. I started gradually making my way down the tree over the water, and after doing that for about 10 feet, I finally got to the spot were my line was caught in the bark then I chipped it off with my fingers and landed the fish!
3. On Tuesday my dad, my friend Calvin and I went fishing at the Nantahala River and caught a few fish and had a great time stomping around in the creek!
I guess that's about it for now!
