SEOPA Conference

Dad and I are on a 10-day trip right now. Seven days down; three to go. The biggest objective of this trip is the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association's Fall Conference, where we are now.

My dad has been a member of SEOPA for 20 years and has attended many of the conferences, so I have gotten to hear a lot of stuff about the conference and the organization for a long time. This was the first year I have been able to attend the conference, and it has met all of my expectations. I have had a great time getting to see a bunch of friends and getting to meet new friends in the industry. I have also learned an enormous amount from all of the workshops I have taken and from conversations I have had with people.

One of the things I have been looking forward to doing the most is still ahead, and that is Pickin' and Grinnin'. That is the time when some very good musicians from the organization get together and jam, which is right up my alley: jamming with fisherman and hunters! We did a "mini pickin' and grinnin' a couple of nights ago, but the big one begins tonight after the final banquet.
