Every time I go to visit Arkansas I am reminded how much I like that state and how I wish it wasn't so far away from Georgia. I was reminded of that last week when dad and I visited Arkansas to fish with Lawrence Taylor and his sons Hunter and Micheal.
Our first fishing stop in Arkansas was fishing a morning on Norfork Lake. We caught quite a few bass and got a lot of great pictures. We were fishing mostly with topwater baits, and what seemed to be our best bait was the new Heddon Chug'n Spook.
After fishing the morning on the lake we got to visit one of my favorite places.....Dry Run Creek! If you have followed my blog for a while you know that Dry Run Creek is a special regulations trout stream in Arkansas that you have to be less than 16 years old to fish. It also has world-class trout fishing in it, and I love it! The fish were a little bit slower to bite in Dry Run Creek than I have seen in my previous two visits. However we still managed to pull a few trout from the creek including a couple of 5-pound trout. Also even if you don't catch any trout in Dry Run, it is still fun because the creek is very clear so you can always see lots of huge trout!
The next stop on the trip was the Spring River, which is one of my favorite places to fish because you can catch so many kinds of fish in one float down the river. It is also very cool that the best way to fish the river is to float down in canoes right through the beautiful Spring River. On the trip to the Spring River we caught largmouth bass, smallmouth bass, rock bass, rainbow trout, bluegill, pumpkinseed and probably some more that I haven't thought about.
So now you know why sometimes I wish that Arkansas was in Georgia.
