One of the things that I really enjoy about fishing in small lakes and ponds is that you really never know what might be under the surface. My fishing trip from a couple weeks ago was the perfect example of that.
A couple friends and I were fishing one of the ponds that we fish pretty regularly, a pond that is usually good for 3-10 fish a day. Most bass we've caught there over the years have ranged from about 1/2 a pound up to somewhere around 3-pounds. And although you never really know what's under the water we felt like we had a pretty good idea of what this pond held. As you can see by the pictures above were proven wrong by this beautiful 7-pound largemouth bass. I caught him on a 5-inch Texas rigged Yum Dinger, on a cast that I've probably made 100 other times without ever catching anything close to that size.
So when you get frustrated by catching small fish or not catching fish at all, just remember that you never know what the next cast might bring!
