There are definitely things that I like about turning sixteen late next month. But there are definitely downsides too, the worst of which will be not being able to fish Dry Run Creek anymore.
Last Saturday morning I got to fish Dry Run one last time. It was an awesome morning. I caught three beautiful trout...one of them being a little bit more note worthy than the rest.
Over the years I have caught a lot of really great Dry Run Creek trout ranging anywhere from 3-8 pounds (a lot around 4 pounds). Going into the day I was really hoping that I could catch one more really big Dry Run fish. The first cast I made after tying on a Lindy Watsit Grub landed beside a rock at the head of one of my favorite pools at Dry Run. Almost immediately after it hit the water I felt a thump and then a bunch of weight pulling towards the rock. After a few tense minutes I finally succeeded in getting the fish out from behind the big rock and was able to start the rest of the landing process which you can see in the video above.
This was not only the second biggest trout that I had ever caught from Dry Run, but it was also my personal best brown trout ever! We think that he was close to 7 pounds.
I don't think that I could have planned a better grand finale for my fishing days at Dry Run Creek! Now it is time for my little brother Asher to take his turn at Dry Run!
