The Pigeon River

It seems like every time we drive through the Smokies, Dad says how much he would like to go down and fish a little bit at the Pigeon River. It is a place where Dad has caught a lot of fish at times, and it is the kind of fishing that we both really like -- fishing in a stream for smallmouth bass.

Yesterday, while going through the Smokies, we decided to make a quick trip to the stream. So we went down there and fished in some pretty fast water for a while and got one or two hits. But then we hit a little bit slacker water and immediately started getting topwater hits, and they were slamming it! And after a few hits, I caught about a 1 1/2-pound smallmouth on a Rebel Bighopper. It made for very pretty pictures and made the two-hour outing very worthwhile.

And that little taste of it makes me really makes me hope that dad and I will get the chance to spend some more time on the Pigeon River some time!
