Several years ago, after the first time that I had ever fished the New River in West Virginia, I decided that it was one of my favorite places that I had ever fished. But since then I have fished a lot of good water, and I had really forgotten about what a good fishing experience fishing the New River really was. This Tuesday I was reminded of just how good it really is.
Within the first few minutes of reaching the river dad and I were already both catching fish left and right. And it didn’t stop there. Between the two of us we ended up catching about 200 smallmouth bass during the day. I caught almost all of my fish on a nose-hooked soft jerkbait, which was suggested to me by our awesome guide Brian Hager (Squirrel). Along with the incredible fishing the whole experience of going down the rapids on the river while being surrounded by gorgeous scenery the whole time is absolutely amazing!
